Gift of Life

This revelation came to me when I was hanging out with some old friends the other day. "How's life?" someone asked. "Life's good," another replied. I thought about it and interrupted, "Life is always good." Some of my friends agreed, but some were skeptical. "Life's not always good," they said.

I thought about it for a min. Then I asked them, "Have you ever received a present that made you unhappy? Not a prank-kind-of-present, but an actual present someone gives you for your Bday or Xmas." Nobody could really recall a present that has ruined their day. I mean sometimes we receive presents that we're unhappy with, but mainly because it didn't meet our expectations. For example, your boyfriend/girlfriend usually gives you something extravagant for Valentine's Day. One year, however, maybe all you got was a box of chocolates. Although the present may have disappointed you slightly, it was still a good thing and I'm sure it didn't ruin your Valentine's Day. I think most people would agree with the phrase "it's the thought that counts."

Now consider the above in the context of life. In my opinion, life is a gift from God. Sometimes we may take it for granted and start bitchin' & whinin' when shiz don't go our way. People might argue, "What about all those people suffering from disease or oppression?" Well, I'm not speaking for everyone because I haven't been in their shoes. But even with the trials that we all face, I strongly believe it is your attitude that determines how "good" life is. We are all blessed with this "Gift of Life" and we should learn to cherish it instead of letting it get us down.
